CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS TEAM
The "After The Call Critical Incident Team" (CISM) is a team developed by peers for peers in the First Responder field. The team is specially trained in handling post-incident, critical incidents in the belief that this will mitigate negative post-traumatic experiences.
Through the provision of services that are comprehensive, integrated, systematic and multi-component. The After the Call CISM Team will provide proactive education and confidential reactive interventions for emergency service members. Spouses of emergency services members will also be supported on request.
The After the Call CISM Team values the mental well-being, psychological resilience, right to confidentiality and respect for all people receiving services.
· Minimize the harmful effects of job stress, related to crisis or emergency situations· Collect anonymous data on the CISM process.
· Provide a quality assurance mechanism for the debriefing/reactive process · Serve as a resource for other developing CISM Teams
· Provide continuing education offerings for Team members · Evaluate and share information on the evolution of the debriefing process
· Enhance the Team profile as an emergency services CISM resource, within our service area.
